Musical performing arts organizations are among the first of the fine arts to feel the effects of an economic down turn. Audiences begin to shrink and attendances fall in number. Consequently, fewer and fewer musical performances occur, leaving the community starved for music. In order to fill this void, members of the San Jose Symphonic Choir have formed a smaller group to reach out to schools, nursing homes, churches, and retirement venues, etc. so that they might not only be entertained, but also to extend our reach to the community at large. Sotto Voce is the name of this smaller choir and it is made up of from 20 to 35 singers who perform repertoire from classical compositions, spirituals, show tunes, and seasonal favorites in programs ranging from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Community groups have been very receptive to these programs and continue to enjoy the musical selections Sotto Voce sings. We gladly invite you to consider using this out reach choir for your next occasion.
